I’m always looking for an excuse to make new music. Truthfully, I don’t need much of an excuse; I love to create. So when I heard about the RPM Challenge, I went for it. I wrote and recorded an entire album in February 2013 (in fact, in 25 days). This was a challenging album for me, because though it has always influenced me, I have never set out to record a dreampop/shoegaze album before. And I think I had some moderate success. I wrote and recorded 10 brand new tracks (largely guitar-based, with lush, atmospheric noises and effects); they are decent examples of my songwriting skills. Some of them even sound quite pretty.
This is also a pretty big deal, because I have spent a number of years releasing serial albums, one track at a time. The last time I released a full-length album all at once was In Reel Time (2007). Consequently, this is my first full release in over five years!
So, without further ado, here is the title track: “Cold Hearts, Old Hearts”.
